Glacier Landing

The Glacier Landing scenic flight flies from Wanaka Airport, over the mighty Clutha River and Lake Wanaka. Lake Wanaka has some spectacular little islands, such as Mou Waho island, which is an unique glacial remnant of the last ice age and is now a nature reserve in the middle of Lake Wanaka.

The flight continues up the Matukituki river with views of Mount Aspiring, you will then land on the Isobel Glacier, a 7500ft glacier overlooking the Southern Alps. This is a unique opportunity as the glacier is only accessible by helicopter making it beautifully pristine. You will then fly over the Aspiring flats, through Mount Aspiring National Park. Fly past glaciers, over Glendhu Bay, tussock sheep grazing country, past Mount Roy and over the Wanaka township before returning back to the airport to complete your trip.
